Frequently asked questions.
Are the roads actually that twisty?
Heads up, riders — the roads to Mid Atlantic Motocamp aren’t just twisty, they’re spaghetti-on-a-plate twisty. We promised curves, and boy, did Mother Nature (and the local road planners) deliver. But with great twisties comes great responsibility: watch for gravel at farm access points and the occasional deer with zero concept of right-of-way. You will encounter wildlife, and not just the kind at the campfire. There's no way to get here without dancing through the curves — so ride smart, stay sharp, and arrive in one piece to tell the tale.
The tickets are confusing- why are there so many kinds?
Natural Chimneys Park and Campground is managed by Augusta County. As such, there are limitations on the number of structures permitted at each site. This has caused us to get creative in how tickets are sold. Offering discounted rates for those who choose to share a tent or use a hammock is the best way we found to maximize use of the space. We have reserved a large, secluded section of the campground that can easily host several hundred campers. As bikers, we know most of us travel with single-person set-ups. By selling tickets this way, we can better utilize the space, cultivate community, and reduce registration costs across the board, welcoming more attendees into that space.
I identify as non-binary or transgender- is this event for me?
This event is designed with women in mind, and “for womxn” is the clearest way we can articulate who it is geared toward. We trust our community members to decide for themselves whether this space feels right for them.
What’s most important to us is that all women — including trans women — are respected, honored, and feel safe throughout the event. If that aligns with your identity and what you’re seeking, you are welcome to join us
How remote is the campground?
Remote enough to feel like you’ve escaped the world- not remote enough to start worrying about survival skills. There is a camp store with firewood right on site, plus a gas station and convenience store less than a half a mile away. If you need more options, the towns of Bridgewater and Staunton are both within a 30-minute ride.
Will there be men present?
In short: not among the campers and organizers. The folks pitching tents and swapping campfire stories will all be womxn. That said, campground staff may roll through every now and then, a few vendors might have impressive beards, and since this is a public park, the occasional passerby may flex his muscles as he strolls through.
Because of that, we ask everyone to keep basic social norms in mind. We want this event to feel incredibly safe and welcoming, but please rock at least a minimal amount of clothing when you’re out and about. Comfort is great- just maybe don’t give the local hikers an unexpected wildlife sighting.
What’s the food situation?
Fear not- you will not be surviving on granola dust and a dream. We’ve lined up breakfast and dinner vendors for every day, so you can roll out of your tent and make a pit stop at the coffee truck on your way to morning yoga! Multiple options will be available for dinner to keep everyone happy and full.
As for Saturday Lunch? That one’s a choose-your-own-adventure. We expect most folks will be out riding, exploring, and sniffing out whatever grub calls their name. Bottom line: no one will be hangry.
What vendors should i expect?
We’re teaming up with local businesses to bring a solid mix of goodies to camp. Expect a little bit of everything, including food vendors, a local tattoo shop on-site offering flash tattoos, and (fingers crossed) some incredible local artisans showing off their craft.
Can I bring my pet?
We love furry friends, but only trained service animals are allowed to join the fun. Think of it as their VIP pass — pawsitively exclusive!
Can I bring my daughter?
While we understand that this event will provide a valuable and eye opening perspective into what it means to be a strong woman and build sisterhood, this event is only for womxn 18 and over.
How will I know what campsite I’m at?
Campsites are first come, first serve. Don’t worry though; this is a large space and there will be plenty of room for you and your crew to stay together!
